CCSFiles_ModuleName.ini

Advanced Topic:

You do not need to understand any of the information presented below in order to use the CCS Accounting program. This topic is intended primarily for Systems Administrators or MIS personnel and is provided for those who seek a deeper understanding of the CCS data management tools.

Since CCS is designed to work with most ODBC Datasources, a standard mechanism was needed to allow creation of the Tables and Columns regardless of the ODBC format and idiosyncrasies. The CCS Files_Modules.ini file provides that mechanism. The CCSFiles_ModuleName.Ini file (where ModuleName is replaced by the actual name of the target module, e.g., Payroll, GL, TK, etc.) controls the initial creation (and version checking) of all ODBC Tables, Columns, Indexes and Validation associations used by the CCS Accounting Program. This file, located in the DATA directory, is user changeable. However, when CCS creates program updates, they often involve updates to the format of tables and columns within the ODBC datasource. These changes will include a modified CCSFiles_ModuleName.ini file. So, for example, if you modified CCSFiles_Payroll.ini, a future update of CCS Payroll would probably overwrite your modified file. Please keep the following in mind, therefore: If you modify any CCSFiles_ModuleName.ini file, you should either stop installing CCS upgrades at that point or be prepared to re-implement your modifications after every upgrade.

Modifications to a CCSFiles_ModuleName.ini file should only be undertaken by those with a thorough knowledge of database design and ODBC formats. Contact CCS for file specifications before making any changes.

Note: Once a Table or Column is created, the Tables Form and Fields Form are used to edit the ODBC datasource; however, to insure all Tables and Columns exist and are of the correct version, the CCSFiles_ModuleName.ini file is read every time the CCS Accounting program is started and therefore must always be accessible to the CCS Accounting Program.
