CRAFTS Entry/Edit Form

The CRAFTS Entry/Edit Form allows you to View, Add, Edit or change CRAFTS.

As depicted above, the active COMPANY is "The xyz company #99". The user is viewing (Browse mode) the CRAFT "011" which has been given the description "Boilermaker."

Note: When you select a CRAFT from the LIST control (by clicking on a line), the associated CRAFT data will be displayed in the bottom portion of the Form. You may also delete CODES by highlighting a CODE and clicking the DELETE key. Clicking on a Column heading will sort the list by that Column; clicking again on the column header will toggle the sort order (Ascending vs. Descending). For example, if you wanted the above data sorted by description, click on the Description column header and the data will be alphabetized from A to Z (Ascending). Click again on the column header and the data will be seen from Z to A (Descending).

Note: Although this form contains predefined controls, they may be configured to meet your specific "Business Rules." See Validation Methods for more information on customizing controls.

See The Mouse verses the Enter/Tab Keys for information on moving through a form.

See Importing Data for information on importing initial data.

Both CLASS and CRAFT are 3 character alphanumeric fields. The CLASS designates the EMPLOYEE'S position, skill (or pay) level (Supervisor, Foreman, Journeyman, Apprentice etc.), whereas the CRAFT specifies an EMPLOYEE'S talents, profession or trade such as Painter, Carpenter, Doctor etc. CLASSES and CRAFTS are assigned by the operator and should be well thought out to allow for growth and unanticipated future changes.

CRAFT and CLASS codes are used by the CCS Payroll, TK, PM, and Training Modules.

See Craft and Classes in the EMPLOYEE FORM for further discussion.

The Controls of the CRAFTS Form:

Note: The values shown below in square brackets represent the default range applicable to each control; however these ranges can be configured to allow additional values (or restrict values). See Validation Methods for more information.

CRAFT #.:[1 to 3 alphanumeric characters]

The CRAFT NO. is used to uniquely identify a CRAFT. This will be the value used to represent a particular CRAFT throughout the program.

Note:As shipped, the VALIDATION logic expects a value of 000-0zz. CRAFTS starting with a alphabetical character (letter instead of number) are not allowed. This enables the automatic searching of CRAFTS by entering any portion of the CRAFT description in the CRAFT NO field. If you wish to change this functionality, simply remove the CRAFT_ALPHA_SEARCH parent from the control's validation method.

DESCRIPTION:[1 to 25 alphanumeric characters]

The CRAFT NAME is used to describe the CRAFT. This name (or description) will appear on most reports pertaining to CRAFTS.

Worker's COMPENSATION #:[0000-9999]

The Worker's COMPENSATION # is used by the CCS Payroll module. If this CRAFT is associated with a particular Worker's COMPENSATION number, then enter that number. Otherwise, leave the entry blank, or enter a zero.

Please see the topic Setting up Worker's Compensation for complete information.

OCCUPATION CODE #:[000000-999999]

Some states require an Occupation code in the reporting of wages on the Quarterly Suta reports. If such a code is applicable to your state, enter it here.

After you complete the above entry, the CRAFT will automatically be validated and saved. Click OK on the SIDE TOOLBAR when you are ready to close the CRAFTS form.

Note: If you used the Add mode instead of the Define mode to create a CRAFT, you will need to press the ESC key or click CANCEL when you are done adding CRAFTS: Once you start the ADD mode anywhere in the CCS Programs, the add mode is automatically reinstated for you after each save until you cancel it or close the Form.
